Biography:
Janet grew up in Iowa and now lives in the wondrous world of Provincetown. She has a degree in Applied Arts from Iowa State University with an emphasis in fiber and design. Her current work focuses on collage and assemblage on either rusted and repurposed metal or on weathered wood.
Using fabric, assorted papers, and found objects discovered on her walks to town and strolls on the beach, Janet intertwines and overlaps these treasures and places them onto treated metal backgrounds or aged wood of various shapes. Her artistic process starts by choosing colors, textures and patterns and arranging them by shape, size, and whim. Then she lets the final design happen organically. The results become various sizes of wall hangings, table displays, and unique art pieces which bring the natural world inside.
