Steve Ohlrich is an artist from Chicago, IL and currently makes his home with his family in Palm Desert, CA. After receiving a BFA in studio art at the University of Illinois at Chicago, he received a 4-year certificate of completion in academic realism from The School of Representational Art in Chicago, an Art Renewal Center-approved atelier. More recently, he earned a master’s degree in art education from Texas Tech University. For the past 20 plus years Steve has worked as a painter and art educator. His work explores the whimsical, and mystical aspects of life. He draws from intuition, nature and a love of drawing and storytelling to compose his paintings. Steve exhibits nationally, and internationally and has a digitized version of his painting, “The Passage” placed in a time capsule on the moon’s surface with 30,000 other creative professionals from around the world. Steve teaches drawing, painting, AP art and is the department chair at a private high school in California’s Coachella Valley.
