Steve Cefalo studied Illustration and Painting at School of Visual Arts in New York. Counted among his many teachers are Steven Assael, Max Ginsburg, and Nelson Shanks. in 1999, he worked for pop artist, Jeff Koons on a series of large-scale oil paintings for the Guggenheim Museum in Berlin. In 2001, Steve worked as a penciller for Rugrats at Nickelodeon’s Times Square studio.
Over the years, he has worked as a portrait painter, mural artist, a scenic artist and set painter, a tattoo artist, and a columnist for major art magazines. He was as an instructor of Painting and Figure Drawing at various universities and art schools from 2003-2015.
After briefly returning to Jeff Koons in 2015, Steve narrowed his focus to commissioned oil portraiture and illustration.
