Biography:
Educated as a businesswoman in New
York City, Carol Frances had a
career in marketing. Her last
business endeavor was owning her own
company, which was acquired in 2000.
After the terror attacks of 9/11,
she decided to pursue a direction
with more purpose and meaning; she
chose to pursue her long-time
passion for art by learning to
paint. Given this new opportunity,
she threw herself wholeheartedly
into painting classes and workshops,
honing her skills and in 2004 began
submitting her work to show. Since
then, her work has been included in
many regional and national juried
exhibitions, awarded prizes,
published and sold to public and
private collections. She is also a
selected member of the Connecticut
Women Artists and the New Haven
Paint & Clay Club.
Carol's oil paintings, many of which
have roots in pattern and
decoration, are richly layered with
a variety of mixed media including
gold leaf, photo transfer and text.
The artist, whose current work
focuses on dresses, birds and
flowers, loves the metaphoric
meaning and poetic potential of
simple objects.
