Following an exploratory phase, feltes found a true path when she studied scientific illustration at the Field Museum of Natural History, Chicago.
This discipline and exactitude of rendering gave her art a structure and an reawakening interest in the natural world.
Over her career, Feltes has been fortunate to collaborate with botanists, entomologist and researchers illustrating numerous books
and journals while constantly nurturing a sense of wonder, appreciation, and delight in nature.
Tess believes her art is an attempt to regain a child’s original fascination with beauty, combined with the accuracy of scientific illustration.
Her illustrations have appeared in CRICKET Magazine and Highlights for Children. Her children’s books are Why Does it Rain?
by Judith Jango-Cohen and Singing Crickets by Linda Glasser, both published by Millbrook Press.
