Distinctly Encaustic

Reception on June 1st, from 7 to 9 p.m. @ Provincetown
The exhibit runs through June 18th
The ancient art of beeswax painting a decidedly modern look.

The show features works by four of the most exciting and individual artists in the field: William Thomson, Kim Bernard, Allison Golder, and Catherine Nash.

All four of these artists are very different, but more importantly they are outstanding, innovative artists, each a master of the medium. Each has consistently been ahead of the curve working encaustics in fresh ways, using the medium to enhance their concepts, rather than for the sake of playing in wax.

“commonality: BOLD dynamics”

Opens Friday, July 1st with a reception from 7 to 9 p.m., The exhibit runs through July 26th , featuring two artists who couldn’t be more dissimilar: one works in oils, the other encaustic; one depicts humans, the other movement through patterns; the former treats her canvas with short, strong strokes of the brush, while the latter prefers encaustic’s fluidity.

As different as they are Jayne Adams and Kim Bernard both create dynamic works, each bold in a distinctive way.
