About Lisa Noonis
Biography:A oil painter who is influence of 19th Century Academic style and adds a contemporary flair. Subjects include, still lifes, landscapes, figurative and portrait work. Artist Statement:Lisa Noonis paints from life and is inspired by the natural beauty and color that exists in all things. Relationship and gesture are of great interest to her being awed by the exchange of energy that occurs between two pieces of fruit or the life that a seemingly inanimate object can take on. It is her goal to express these relationships simply and truthfully. Color has always been central to her life and she is interested in how human beings are moved by color. Color unto itself, speaks volumes to her and how brilliant color can emerge out of darkness by a shaft of light. The use of paint and brush are very important to her. She believe sthat expression comes not only from the subject matter but from how the paint is placed on the canvas. She uses short, thick strokes of paint to quickly capture the essence of the subject, rather than its details. From a distance her paintings look realistic. As the viewer moves closer, the paintings becomes a collection of paint and brush strokes. Lisa Noonis, a resident of New Hampshire, was a student of artist Dennis Perrin. Her work shows the influence of 19th Century Academic style and adds a contemporary flair. Ms. Noonis began painting in 2004 and has been shown in galleries and juried shows in her home state, Maine and Massachusetts. She is collected throughout the country. Since 1996 Lisa Noonis has owned and operated Noonis Creative, a graphic design company. She graduated with a BA in Communications from The University of Maine at Orono in 1985. |
