Biography:
Although she heeded her calling years earlier, Lisa Noonis confirmed her career direction at age 17. That’s when a dedicated teacher broke the news to Lisa’s father at the family dinner table: no, your talented daughter will not be studying to become an engineer.

In a family of five boys and two girls, all high achievers in the Greek-American tradition, art was the thing at which Lisa excelled. She won blue ribbons at local festivals and turned study halls into studio time.

If her father was crestfallen, he shared responsibility for Lisa’s choice: the beautiful home his wife kept – and still keeps – has inspired the artist for decades. Walk into the pine-swaddled colonial on the coast of Southern Maine, and you will find a freshly baked cake on the kitchen table, flowers cut from the garden, and a soft, colorful tablecloth you are free to dribble crumbs on.

Now an accomplished painter, Noonis carries on the tradition of beauty, love and love of beauty. She revels in the sensuality of creation and strives to share her exhilaration with the viewer. She is generous with paint, bold with light, brave with color and big with the brush. You will notice her paintings from afar, and share in the joy of making them as you move in for an intimate glimpse.

She leaves enough of the painting’s story untold to give the viewer a role in completing it. These mysteries have emerged as a powerful theme as her work has evolved. Once devoted to still life, her work encompasses landscape and figures, and has become increasingly impressionistic.

Noonis, who has exhibited her work throughout New England, graduated from the University of Maine with a self-designed degree centering on fine art.
