About Darlou Gams
|
Darlou Gams, a native of southern Idaho, attended the Art Center College of Design in Pasadena, California. After graduating with distinction, she enjoyed success as a freelance artist and illustrator before fulfilling her dream of becoming a full time fine artist. Using her illustration experience as a foundation, she uses the landscape as a canvas to explore color, design, shape and texture. Influenced by tonalists Inness and Eaton, Darlou adds a contemporary perspective, weaving color and light to create a modern interpretation of the landscape. "I am inspired and excited by the nature of light as an endless subject matter, both in landscape and the human form. Its ever changing quality, alone constant, creates variations subtle and dramatic, modified by the cool of the mid-day sky or warmth from the sun near the horizon. My goal is to capture the beauty of that light, not simply a picturesque scene, but something much more intimate and personal." Darlou lives on the seacoast of New Hampshire with her husband, son, and daughter. |
